Editorial Review for Bogart's – by BJ Parker
The Scene
Bogart's large, split-level hall and balcony quake as the state-of-the-art sound system pumps out the jam at ungodly volumes. Country and blues lovers generally enjoy the hi-fi quality at more manageable volumes. Meanwhile, a full-service bar keeps beverages flowing and serves pizza during some events.
The Draw
No other music venue in town presents such diverse acts as Patti Smith, the Queers, Guided By Voices, Ministry, B.B. King, Robert Cray, BR-549, Nancy Griffith, Cowboy Junkies and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Concerts at the undisputed "showcase of the Midwest" range from about $6 to $24, and usually start before 9pm and end by midnight.

Insider Tips
ParkingMetered parking is enforced, but free after 6pm Monday-Saturday, and all day Sunday. There are pay lots ($2-$5) on Corry and Glendora. Shields School also has parking ($2-5); open nightly after 4pm and all day on weekends. Don't park in University Plaza shopping center or you may be towed.

Bogarts has a great atmosphere, it is unlike anywhere else. Since it's opening in 1974 acts such as Prince, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc have played there. I don't know what the first 2 people were talking about (one couldn't even spell conCert correctly...)--I absolutely love Bogarts! I think Bogarts is a great place to see a concert! It is much more intimate than other venues and even though there may be a bit of a grunge factor, it makes it all the more loveable. Overall, I think Bogarts is a great place to see up-and-comers and established artists....it's a great place to get away and just rock out. ***Tickets prices are incredibly reasonably (READ: totally affordable)... ***They have a balcon which is great if you don't want to be too close to the craziness near the stage ***Several bars--and yes you may have to wait to get a beer, but is there any bar or concert venue where you wouldn't? Bogarts has a great atmosphere, it is unlike anywhere else.
Pros: ***Great atmosphere, sound system and acts,;easy parking, reasonable ticket prices***
Cons: none

This was the worst venue that I've ever seen a concert at! The beer is in an overpriced dixie cup that you have to wait in line for, and they are sold one per person per trip to the "bar." The place is packed way past capacity and tickets are overpriced. Once you enter, you can't leave unless you pay for another ticket, so don't expect to actually see anything on stage unless you come at opening time. Don't expect to hear the band either because of bad acoustics. The bathrooms are filthy. I will never go back to Bogarts.
Cons: everything
